The SDR Series is a long-running family of compact wire-wound SMD power inductors built with Ni-Zn ferrite cores. Its simple open-magnetic construction—direct electrode contact and a single drum core—delivers cost-efficient energy storage performance for small to medium current DC-DC converter stages. With over a decade of proven reliability in mass-production products, this series remains widely adopted in portable electronics and value-driven consumer devices.


As Ni-Zn ferrite enables better frequency characteristics in small packages, SDR inductors provide stable operation in switching regulators without the cost overhead of full magnetic shielding. Extensive dimension coverage from 3 mm up to 13 mm allows engineers to maintain footprint continuity even in legacy designs undergoing cost reduction. Custom inductance values and alternative pad layouts are available.

When to Choose SDR?

SDR inductors are ideal when cost, small form factor, and sufficient DC-DC performance matter more than strict EMI containment. For high-current or EMI-sensitive rails, Coilmaster recommends upgrading to shielded SDS/SDC/SBS or molded inductors.
